Agency Connect Goes Virtual in 2020

Brokers and agents continue to navigate the increasing pace of digitization despite pandemic.

Insuretech Connect (ITC) was founded in 2016 after noticing a void in the insurance space for a place where those looking to push the boundaries of what was possible could gather. Parts of the ecosystem had been gathering for years, but there was never one central place where all sectors from across the globe could come together to collaborate, learn, and network. The type of gathering would not just be an amazing experience, it would also lead to people feeling empowered and inspired.

Since launching, thought leaders such as Inga Beale of Lloyd’s of London; Daniel Schriber of Lemonade; Stuart Miller of Lennar; Amy Friedrich of Principal; Glenn Shapiro of Allstate; Richard Whitt of Markel and Dan Glaser of Marsh & McLennan Companies have taken to the stage to share openly and honestly—the good and the bad—but more importantly to say innovation is the future of insurance. Startups, unicorns, incumbents, investors, even regulators—none are immune to change but all who attend ITC are focused on the future.

What most people do not know is that prior to ITC, there was a desire to create an event for insurance agents and brokers. The rise in funding and the potential for industry wide disruption lead to ITC being launched, but we never lost sight of wanting to gather forward looking agencies and brokers. And, in 2019, after ITC had grown from a 1,500 person gathering to 7,000+ experience with over 60 countries represented, the opportunity was right to serve the important part of the insurance value chain that had not historically been a focus for innovation—distribution. That is when Agency Connect was born—an event within ITC solely dedicated to helping the broker and agent navigate this new digital first, tech-enabled reality. As we know now, no part of the insurance community is immune from the increasing pace of digitization, evolving policy holder expectations and the continued emergence of new product segments.

Kicking off Agency Connect:Virtual is a leader that is no stranger to change or hard work, the Chairman, CEO & Founder of Ryan Speciality Group, Patrick G. Ryan. He has been a champion of the power of intellectual capital as a strategic business tool and advantage. From mowing lawns and shoveling driveways as a kid to selling insurance out of his Dad’s Ford car dealership to founding insurance-giant, Aon – he always wanted to earn his own way. We look forward to hearing his insights on the past, present and more importantly the future of insurance.

We hope you will join us Thursday, July 16th for Agency Connect:Virtual. It will be a forum to learn from executives making the hard choices, mistakes and wins. It will be a place to hear from those innovating in the space, especially in this post pandemic world where the need for transformation on the agency level is more necessary than ever. And, it will again be a place to network with peers – all from the location of one’s choosing.

Jay Weintraub is the CEO of InsureTech Connect.
