Brings back Todd Kaminski in the role of head of direct markets at Zurich North America after a stint in leadership consulting. Kaminski spent 30 years at Zurich North America, starting in 1993 as an account executive, and was last a senior vice president and head of business development in direct markets.
Says it is cooperating with the Department of Justice after media reports, including by The New York Times, on a criminal and civil investigation into the insurer’s Medicare billing practices. The company maintains confidence in its conduct and has launched an independent review to ensure transparency and compliance. >> Hires Wayne DeVeydt as chief financial officer, starting Sept. 2, 2025. DeVeydt comes from Bain Capital, where he held the position of managing director and operating partner. Broadens its marine collaboration with Copenhagen-based managing general agent DUPI Nordics. While the partnership previously targeted Nordic markets, it will now extend across Continental Europe.
Acquires ANOVA Marine Insurance Services, a Florida-based MGA that offers cargo and logistics, transportation, and liability insurance, along with bonds. ANOVA founder and President Bradford Boyd will remain in charge of the business.
Finalizes acquisition by ERGO, becoming part of its management structure as the Munich Re primary insurance branch enters the U.S. small and midsize business insurance market.
Restructures its board as CEO Joachim Wenning prepares to retire at the end of 2025. Christoph Jurecka will assume the CEO role on Jan. 1, 2026. Andrew Buchanan will take over for Jurecka as chief financial officer on that date, stepping up from his role as reinsurance CFO, while Robin Johnson took the new position of chief technology officer on Aug. 1.
Promotes Philip Wray from executive vice president of property to head of property. Wray brings over three decades of experience from Tokio Marine Global, Swiss Re, Lloyd’s of London, Winterthur, and Zurich.
Hires Christiern Dart as CEO, effective January 2026 pending regulatory approval, following Andrew Carrier’s retirement. Dart was most recently chief underwriting officer at Brit, where he worked for 17 years. He has also held senior roles at Brit Liberty Syndicates and CNA Re in an insurance career exceeding 30 years.
Appoints Mike Alexander as president after a decade with the company. Alexander was previously Jewelers’ chief operating officer.
Enhances Cyber Suite with a new “Micro Cyber” option for microbusinesses with 10 or fewer employees.
